Annie Clark made her debut as St. Vincent in 2007 with "Marry Me" and was quickly considered one of the most innovative and compelling artists in modern music. Following Actor (2009) and Strange Mercy (2011), she won a GRAMMY for Best Alternative Album in 2014 with her self-titled fourth album. In 2017, MASSEDUCTION won two more GRAMMYs (Best Rock Song and Best Recording Package). Her latest album, Daddy's Home from 2021, finally earned her a second GRAMMY for Best Alternative Album.

Clark's latest album, All Born Screaming, is her first entirely self-produced album (after co-producing all her previous albums) and showcases St. Vincent at her most primal. All Born Screaming is equal parts spiritual abandon and blissful acceptance. "If you're born screaming, that's a great sign," says Clark, "because it means you're breathing. That you're alive. My God. It's joyful. And it's also a protest. We're all born out of protest, in some way. It's terrifying to be alive, it's ecstatic to be alive. It's everything."
