NF
Born on March 30, 1991, in Gladwin, Michigan, Nathan John Feuerstein endured a traumatic childhood. His parents divorced when he was young, and his mother died of an overdose. To survive, he fled to hip-hop. It also became his salvation. During this period, he listened heavily to Eminem, who became his role model. He soon began writing his own lyrics, rapping at parties and karaoke bars. It took some time for him to gain a foothold as a hip-hop artist, but with his 2015 debut, "Mansion," NF—as he now calls himself—captured attention. NF received considerable praise for his raw, candid lyrics, in which his difficult childhood remains a significant source of inspiration. His breakthrough came in 2017 with his third album, "Perception." He still wears his heart on his sleeve, many of his lyrics addressing his struggles with mental health issues. NF thus expresses the emotions that many young people struggle with. The album shot to number one on the Billboard album chart in his home country, and he scored a major hit with Let You Down. As the title suggests, his 2019 album, The Search, reveals him still searching for himself. It's another number-one album in America. While his previous albums were rather somber, 2023's Hope finally broke through. The lyrics are optimistic. NF himself calls it his "mature" album. "The light at the end of the tunnel." Hope is a new success for the American rapper. His success story is extra special because NF has never hidden his Christian beliefs, which make him an outsider in the hip-hop community. He doesn't just make Christian hip-hop, he believes. He wants to make music that appeals to everyone, regardless of their audience's background.
