Ludovico Einaudi
Born on November 23, 1955, Ludovico Maria Enrico Einaudi is an Italian composer and pianist with deep roots in classical music. However, his work also regularly delves into pop, rock, dance, world music, and ambient music. This versatility has earned him a large international audience. Orchestras perform his work. His list of solo albums is impressive, and he also contributes to a now endless series of TV series, films, theme songs, and commercials.
Ludovico Einaudi grew up in a world where the fine arts are highly regarded. Both his mother and grandfather were gifted pianists, which led him to take up the piano at a young age. However, the young Ludovico Einaudi wasn't a loner. He also had a passion for The Beatles, for example. He successfully completed his studies at the conservatory in 1982. In the 1980s, his work was performed by various international ensembles.
In 1988, his first album, Time Out, was released. Many more followed, including Stanze (1992), the ballet Salgari (1995), Le Onde (1996), Eden Roc (1999), Una Mattina (2004), Nightbook (2009), Elements (2015), Underwater (2022), and The Summer Portraits (2025). The ensemble ranges from solo piano and duets with cello to contributions from choir, orchestra, and electronics. Ludovico Einaudi also composes soundtracks for films. Initially primarily for the Italian market, but over time also for international productions such as the film cycle This Is England, the TV series Derek (with/by Ricky Gervais), and the French blockbuster Intouchables.
