Joe Pass was an American jazz guitarist. Known for his work, which stemmed from numerous collaborations with pianist Oscar Peterson and singer Ella Fitzgerald, Pass is often considered one of the most remarkable jazz guitarists of the 20th century. New York Magazine wrote: "Joe Pass looks like someone's uncle and plays guitar like it's nobody's business. He's been called 'the greatest in the world' and often compared to Paganini for his virtuosity. There's a purity to his sound that easily distinguishes him from other top-tier jazz guitarists."
Virtuoso, originally released in 1973, is the final album by jazz guitarist Joe Pass and is widely considered his best. The album includes Pass's original "Blues for Alican" and standards like "Round Midnight," on which Pass plays a solo throughout. This new edition of the album is being released as part of the Original Jazz Classics Series and is being pressed on 180-gram vinyl by RTI with a fully analog mastering of the original tapes by Coherent Audio and presented in a Stoughton Tip-On Jacket.
