The Magnificent Thad Jones is considered the finest small-group recording of the trumpeter's career. The 1956 recording featured Billy Mitchell on tenor saxophone, Barry Harris on piano, Percy Heath on bass, and Max Roach on drums. One of the album's highlights is the iconic rendition of "April In Paris," along with his swinging originals "Billie-Doo" and "Thedia."
