The second of three albums Hartman recorded for Impulse once again showcases Hartman's voice at its finest, including "Wee Small Hours of the Morning," "Charade," and "Sleepin' Bee." Hartman's supporting cast is almost as impressive as his voice, with Hank Jones on piano, Elvin Jones on drums, and Milt Hinton on bass forming the rhythm section. Kenny Burrell and Jim Hall are featured on guitar, and Illinois Jacquet (tenor) appears on five tracks.
