Sor
Sor is the stage name of Dutch musician and producer Rosario Mussendijk, who works solo and is also part of the hip-hop collective Black Acid. In his younger years, he took piano lessons, participated in the classical music game show Maestro in the 2021-2022 season, and performed with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam's Nelson Mandela Park in September 2024. Classical music regularly features in his own work, such as in the 2022 hit single "Zo Zijn" (So Are).
Sor was born in Hoorn, North Holland, but grew up in Amsterdam. His childhood was turbulent, and he discovered that music was a means of expression. "My music is primarily self-therapy," he told Het Parool in 2024. He studied at the University of the Arts and the Herman Brood Academy – both in Utrecht. As a member of the Amsterdam hip-hop group Black Acid, he played festivals like Lowlands, Down the Rabbit Hole, and Zwarte Cross. In 2018, it was revealed that Sor was dealing with hearing problems, but he continued his career despite this.
A year later, Sor signed with the Noah's Ark label and released the EPs Phonak and Professor. He also collaborated with various colleagues such as S10, Winne, Jonna Fraser, Hef, and Wibi Soerjadi. In 2022, the albums Bae Doven No. 1 through No. 3 were released. In March 2023, he received an Edison Award for his musical triptych. That year, he also shone at the Lowlands festival. In 2024, Sol once again demonstrated his versatility. He not only performed with the renowned Concertgebouw Orchestra but also reached the finals of the popular TV show Wie Is De Mol? (Who Is The Mole?).
