In the latter half of the 1990s, André's career seemed to have peaked. The album "Mijn Gevoel," released in November 1997, peaked at number 10 on the Album Top 100, but quickly dropped off the charts afterward, disappearing entirely within 10 weeks. "Vaarwel" was the only single from the album to reach the Top 40. André did, however, perform two major concerts in both 1997 and 1998 at a sold-out Ahoy Rotterdam.
In 1999, however, André returned bigger than ever. A comedic TV commercial for Unox was a good start, but the release of the documentary "Zij Gelooft In Mij" (She Believes In Me) just before Christmas of that year gave him back his star status in one fell swoop.
