Necessary Sorrow (LP)

Pop sensation Froukje has been working hard on it these past few weeks, and now the moment has finally arrived: on January 12, 2024, she'll release her long-awaited debut album, "Noodzakelijk Verdriet" (Necessary Sadness). The album includes tracks like "Als Ik God Was" (As I Was God), "Naar Het Licht" (Towards the Light), and the new single "Houden Van Mij" (Love Me). The latter will be released on October 27. Froukje Veenstra has been on a meteoric rise over the past three years.

At just 18 years old in early 2020, her single "Groter Dan Ik" instantly established her as one of the new promises of Dutch alternative pop. From that moment on, her star has been on the rise, and she now boasts two Edison Awards (for the EPs "Licht en Donker" and "Uitzinnig"), two 3voor12 Song of the Year awards (for the single "Ik Wil Dansen" and "Zonder Gezicht" with S10), two 3FM Awards (for Best Newcomer and Best Artist), and a Silver Nutcracker. She has also performed on the main stages of Lowlands, Down the Rabbit Hole, Rock Werchter, and Pukkelpop, among others.

With her vulnerable, captivating songs about human grief and social themes, Froukje has captured the hearts of Dutch music lovers, resulting in sold-out club tours and packed festival summers.
