"I don't think any other composer has such a reputation for quality," says Krystian Zimerman. "All of Brahms's chamber music is fantastic: the sonatas, the trios, the clarinet quintet. There isn't a bad piece among them." Although Johannes Brahms's Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor is the best-known of his three, Zimerman instead focuses on the sometimes overlooked Piano Quartets Nos. 2 and 3, giving them the attention they deserve. He adds, "I especially love the Third Quartet. It's crazy. It's powerful. There's an incredible drive to it." For this recording, Krystian Zimerman collaborated with cellist Yuya Okamoto, violinist Maria Nowak, and violinist Katarzyna Budnik.
