Justin Bieber
Born in Canada on March 1, 1994, Justin Bieber is one of the biggest pop stars of our time, having sold 150 million albums. The singer has won every music award there is. He made his spectacular breakthrough with his debut album, My World 2.0 (2010), after which he further expanded his global success with the Christmas album Under the Mistletoe (2011) and the mainstream albums Believe (2012), Purpose (2015), Changes (2020), and Justice (2021). He announced his seventh album at the end of 2024. Over the years, he has grown from a typical teenage star into a fully-fledged artist. Over the course of his career, which now spans more than 15 years, he has collaborated with peers such as Future, Lil Wayne, Billie Eilish, David Guetta, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, and Skrillex. In 2017, he was one of the headliners at the Pinkpop festival in Landgraaf.
Even as a child, Justin Bieber dreamed of becoming a pop star. He drew inspiration from the successes of Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, among others. Later, he also cited Justin Timberlake, Craig David, Kanye West, and Usher as artists who shaped him. The world first caught a glimpse of him around 2007 when he started posting videos on YouTube covering pop and R&B hits. Thanks to these videos, Justin Bieber was discovered by manager Scooter Brown, who eventually landed him a contract with the record giant Island. Things moved quickly after that. In 2009, the EP My Word was released, and that same year, he scored an international hit with his debut single, "One Time." By the time his full-length debut, My World 2.0, was released, the world was at the 16-year-old singer's feet. His loyal fans were dubbed "Beliebers."
Besides his successful albums, Justin Bieber also released a string of singles, almost all of which became global hits, such as "Baby" (with Ludacris), "Boyfriend," "Where Are Ü Now" (with Jack Ü), "What Do You Mean?", "Sorry," "Love Yourself," "Friends" (with BloodPop), "I Don't Care" (with Ed Sheeran), and "Stuck With You" (with Ariana Grande). Justin Bieber also became a cultural phenomenon. He was committed to charities, developed into a successful businessman, proved to be a more than accomplished actor, and kept his writing flowing thanks to his turbulent personal life. However, with his albums and world tours, Justin Bieber made it clear that music remains central to his life.
