Diggy Dex
Diggy Dex is the stage name of rapper, singer, and composer Koen Jansen, born in Amersfoort on March 26, 1980. Over the past 20 years, he has made a name for himself with his Dutch-language hip-hop. Sometimes, major events inspire him. The MH17 disaster in 2015 led to "Treur Niet" (Ode to Life), and the terrorist attack in Brussels a year later led to "Morgen Komt Het Goed" (Tomorrow Will Be Alright). His lyrics are often personal and reflective. Diggy Dex draws on many musical influences. Besides hip-hop, French music culture is a significant source of inspiration.
Koen Jansen, aka Diggy Dex, started rapping as a teenager. He initially collaborated extensively with the rap collective DAC, with whom he also recorded several albums and singles. He debuted in 2006 with his own album, "Verhalen Vanaf De Sofa," featuring contributions from Jiggy Djé and Wudstick, among others. In the years that followed, he released albums such as "Mayonaise Voor De Ziel" (2008), "Long Nights, Short Days" (2010), "Do It Yourself" (2014), "Golven" (2016), "Karavaan" (2018), and "Carrousel" (2021).
During this period, Diggy Dex collaborated with colleagues such as Guus Meeuwis, Ali B, André Hazes, 3JS, Miss Montreal, and Suzan and Freek. He was a regular columnist on Giel Beelen's 3FM program for a while, and in 2009, he scored a hit with "Sleep Well (Fantastig Toch)," a remix of Eva De Roovere's "Fantastig Toch." His new album, Tempo Giusto, was scheduled for release in 2024, but due to personal reasons, both the album and the new tour were postponed until 2025.
