Per Ongeluk, Pommelien Thijs's long-awaited debut album, is an honest exploration of contradictions, experiences, and ambitions. It's become an album that breathes freely and frankly celebrates the euphoria of being young. Per Ongeluk will be released on June 23, 2023, by Sony Music Belgium. On the same date, Pommelien Thijs will present the album at a sold-out De Roma. "I never dared to fully admit to myself that I wanted to dedicate 100% to music. However, I always caught myself wanting to spend every free moment I had on music and acting," says Pommelien. "I came up with the title based on the same feeling I had when I stumbled over that album. Everything I'd subconsciously done in recent years clearly pointed towards this album, but it still feels accidental. I could only admit that to myself after I made a whole album about it. Only when I really started to visualize my music in person did I realize how much joy I got from it." Hence, the title, "Per Ongeluk," perfectly captures the essence: it's an album brimming with joie de vivre and enthusiasm, full of delightful quips between style and lyrics. However, without friction, there's no brilliance; on "Per Ongeluk," Pommelien doesn't shy away from challenging life dilemmas. "The most important thing about my music is a strong dose of self-mockery. That doesn't change the fact that I wanted to sing about topics I truly care about, and that I'm deeply engaged with. 'Honest' is a good word to describe "Per Ongeluk."
