BLUE GIANT (Opaque Blue 2LP)

The soundtrack for BLUE GIANT was released in 2023 and made waves in Japan as one of the great jazz albums of that year. The animated Japanese film is based on the popular Japanese manga about a young saxophonist who strives to become the best jazz musician in the world. The music is by Japanese pianist-composer Hiromi, described as a "jazz rulebreaker." She plays the piano music for the character Yukinori Sawabe in the film. Tenor saxophonist Tomoaki Baba provides the sound for the main character Dai, who delivers a powerful performance in the film. This vinyl edition of BLUE GIANT marks the first physical release of the film's music.
