Woody Shaw – Song of Songs (Jazz Dispensary Top Shelf Series LP)

Originally released in 1973, Song of Songs is the second collection of hard bop and avant-garde compositions that legendary trumpeter Woody Shaw recorded for the Contemporary label, produced by Lester and John Koenig. Featuring an exceptional lineup including Benny Maupin, George Cables, and Henry Franklin, the album showcases Shaw's bold, innovative approach to jazz and his remarkable compositional vision.

As part of the Jazz Dispensary Top Shelf series, this premium reissue brings Song of Songs back to vinyl for the first time in over five decades. Mastered by Kevin Gray directly from the original analogue master tapes (AAA), pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing, and housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket, this edition faithfully captures the warmth and detail of the original recording.
