Formed in 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Venom rose to prominence during the final years of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Their first two albums, Welcome to Hell (1981) and Black Metal (1982), are widely regarded as seminal influences on thrash metal and extreme metal. Their second album was so influential that it gave its name to the black metal subgenre itself. Frequently cited as a major inspiration by bands including Metallica, Behemoth, Celtic Frost, and Mayhem, Venom remain one of the most revered and influential bands in metal history.

Originally released in 1985, Possessed unleashes a relentless barrage of speed, chaos, and dark energy, capturing Venom's signature blend of savage riffs, thunderous drumming, and snarling vocals. This Limited Edition is pressed on 140g Red, Black & White "Insomnia" coloured vinyl and includes a printed inner sleeve and poster. Featuring classic tracks including "Powerdrive," "Flytrap," "Satanachist," "Burn This Place (To the Ground)," "Possessed," and "Too Loud (For the Crowd)," this edition faithfully revisits one of the defining releases of early extreme metal.
