Description

Nina Simone and Piano! is een LP uitgebracht in 1969 waarop Nina Simone zichzelf begeleidt op de piano. Het album valt binnen het genre vocal jazz en is opmerkelijk door het minimale, intieme karakter: alleen Simones stem en haar pianospel staan centraal, waardoor haar emotionele intensiteit krachtig doorkomt. Deze plaat wordt gezien als één van haar meest indringende werken. Door het ontbreken van andere muzikanten ligt de nadruk volledig op Simones persoonlijke interpretatie en vocale expressie. De pure, sobere uitvoering benadrukt haar veelzijdigheid als zowel zangeres als pianist en onthult een kwetsbare kant van haar muzikaliteit.
