With High Noon, Blondie continues to follow the creative instincts that have defined the band from the beginning—pursuing ideas wherever they lead, without regard for genre boundaries. Rock and punk sit alongside dance and Latin rhythms, with contributions from Johnny Marr, Glen Matlock, Zach Condon of Beirut, and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius, among others. The result is unmistakably Blondie—music that embraces the unexpected while remaining true to the band’s singular identity.
“This album is classic Blondie – an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new. This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we're living now” –– Debbie Harry
The album was recorded in New York City with producer John Congleton [St. Vincent, The War on Drugs, The Killers, Lana Del Rey], who previously worked with Blondie on their critically acclaimed album Pollinator. Much of the material was recorded together in the same room, reflecting the collaborative spirit that has long been central to the band’s creative process. David Wrench [Florence + the Machine, Jamie xx, Frank Ocean, Bon Iver, The xx] later joined the project for additional production and mixing.
High Noon also marks the final recording of Blondie co-founder and drummer Clem Burke, who played on every Blondie album. When the band began recording, they could not have known the significance the album would ultimately carry. Following Burke’s passing, High Noon has taken on a deeper meaning for the band—a final chapter in an extraordinary creative partnership that spanned nearly five decades.
