Nøhlen was recorded in 2023 at the band's own studio in Hummelo. The album contains 15 tracks (13 on the LP), and all band members contributed to the writing process.
Normaal released around 40 studio and live albums during their almost 50-year career and scored a total of 46 Top 40 hits.
Normaal's current lineup consists of longtime members Bennie Jolink (vocals/guitar), Ferdi Joly (guitar), and Willem Terhorst (bass), plus drummer Timo Kelder, who also produced the new album. For several years now, the band has been joined by keyboardist Roel Spanjer and Belgian horn players Joppe Bestevaer and Peter Delannoye.
