SHM-CDs (Super High Material CDs) reproduce sound more faithfully than conventional CDs. SHM-CDs comply with CD standards and can be played on existing players. "This Is How I Feel About Jazz" was Jones's first full-length album as a bandleader, following his recording debut with the 1955 split album "Jazz Abroad." Jones arranged and conducted three recording sessions in September 1956, each with a different lineup, ranging from a nonet to a fifteen-piece big band. Musicians on the album include Charles Mingus, Art Farmer, Jimmy Cleveland, Phil Woods, Lucky Thompson, Hank Jones, Paul Chambers, Milt Jackson (referred to as "Brother Soul" in the liner notes of "Q"), Zoot Sims, Jerome Richardson, Charlie Persip, and Herbie Mann.
Tracks include the sublime 'If I Ever Lose This Heaven' and 'Everything Must Change', plus 'Body Heat' and 'Soul Saga'.
