"Jansen and Mäkelä are perfectly attuned to each other in Sibelius's Violin Concerto. The violinist, always hyper-focused, stood constantly on stage in a kind of ready-to-go posture. Her knees were often bent, like shock absorbers to absorb the many difficult bumps in Sibelius's score. Mäkelä also occasionally stood in that same attacking position, ready to pounce on her prey and devour the bar lines," wrote Trouw about the two musicians' live performance at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. On this album, they also perform Sergei Prokofiev's First Violin Concerto with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.
