To mark the 50th anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich's death (August 9, 2025), Deutsche Grammophon is releasing world premieres and rare works by the great Russian composer—most of them recorded at the International Shostakovich Festival in Gohrisch, Saxony, the world's only annual Shostakovich festival. Nearly 80 minutes of largely unknown music by the composer, performed by renowned artists: a must for every Shostakovich fan. Irina Shostakovich, the composer's widow says: “I am grateful to the organizers of the International Shostakovich Festival Gohrisch for premiering previously unperformed works by Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich. These works were found by musicologist Olga Digonskaya and published by DSCH Publishers, Moscow. To mark the 50th anniversary of the composer's death, this Deutsche Grammophon album with some of Shostakovich's unknown works has been released. I have no doubt that it will be a well-deserved success among fans and lovers of Shostakovich's music.”
