Lucie Horsch | Baroque Journey CD
In her quest for "the recorder at its broadest," Lucie Horsch takes her listeners on a Grand Tour, a journey through the musical landscape of Europe during the Baroque period. This period saw the writing of the most virtuosic compositions for the recorder. Afterward, the instrument fell into obscurity for centuries; it played no significant role in the Classical and Romantic periods. Only since the 1960s has the recorder been taken seriously again by musicians and composers. "There's no established order in the recorder world yet, like there is in the violin world, with legends like Yehudi Menuhin," Horsch explains. This gives her the freedom to play her instrument with audible lightness and freedom.
