Daniil Trifonov | Destination Rachmaninov - Arrival 1CD
The second part, "Arrival," concludes Daniil Trifonov's "Destination Rachmaninov" project. The pianist presents the Russian pianist's first piano concerto alongside his third concerto, one of the most difficult and demanding in the repertoire. He also presents his own piano transcriptions of the renowned "Vocalise" and "The Silver Sleigh Bells," the virtuoso first movement of the choral symphony "The Bells." Eighty years ago, Rachmaninov himself recorded these two concertos with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Trifonov follows in his footsteps and re-records these masterpieces with the same orchestra, here conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
