On the recordings of "The Last Trane," Coltrane was merely a sideman for others: Donald Byrd, Art Taylor, and Red Garland. These recordings never made it onto an album, and all have one thing in common: John Coltrane: The Last Trane. These recordings date from the legendary jazz years of 1957 and 1958.
