If Art Blakey's Caravan wasn't already recognized as a masterpiece, there could be no doubt about it after seeing the 2014 film "Whiplash." Blakey's first album for Riverside features a stellar cast: Wayne Shorter, Curtis Fuller, and Freddie Hubbard are three of the six featured artists. "Caravan" thankfully never went out of print, but it does deserve a beautifully polished and audiophile-ready version.
