Typhoon | Lobi Da Basi (CD)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Lobi Da Basi is a colorful and musical album from 2014 by Typhoon. Typhoon makes the listener feel at home with his characteristically honest and candid writing style. Typhoon embodies authenticity and lends his voice to a distinctive sound of blues, jazz, and hip-hop, produced by Dries Bijlsma and ART. The contributions of Typhoon's live band and friends like Benjamin Herman, Andre Manuel, Sticks, Rico, Blaxtar, Pete Philly, Coco Jones, and Jan Wessels make Lobi Da Basi a warm encounter for a wide audience.
Typhoon began his career as a 15-year-old boy under the wing of the hip-hop group Opgezwolle. Not long after winning the Grand Prix of the Netherlands as a solo act, he signed a contract with Top Notch and in 2007 released his solo debut, Tussen Licht en Lucht (Tens Light and Air). The album won a Silver Harp and several music awards, but his true success lay in the shows. Typhoon became a household name thanks to performances at all major festivals, including Lowlands, North Sea Jazz, Oerol, and Into The Great Wide Open.
Collaborations with New Cool Collective, the Fakkelbrigade, and many others kept Typhoon in the spotlight throughout these years, culminating in his performance for King Willem-Alexander, Maxima, and the entire cabinet, watched by two million Dutch viewers. The track "Van De Regen Naar De Zon," which Typhoon premiered during this broadcast, was considered by many to be the "true" King's Song and was, of course, a must-have for the album Lobi Da Basi.
