The album is based on Palestrina's famous 'Missa Papae Marcelli', the mass setting in which he employed a new style of polyphony, saving sacred music from being banned by the Catholic Church. Featuring a selection of motets commemorating his time in the papal chapel in St. Peter's, Rome, including his most famous motet, 'Sicut cervus'.
