Omschrijving
The Quest van pianist Mal Waldron, opgenomen in de Rudy Van Gelder Studios in New Jersey in juni 1961, werd in juli 1962 uitgebracht op het New Jazz-label. Het bevat Eric Dolphy (altsax, klarinet), Booker Ervin (tenorsax), Ron Carter ( cello), Joe Benjamin (contrabas) en Charlie Persip (drums). Waldron componeerde alle zeven nummers die ergens tussen hardbop en avant-garde liggen, inclusief de jazzstandaard ‘Fire Waltz’.
