Het Pianoconcert van Aram Khachaturian hoort bij de klassieke werken die zelden worden gespeeld en nog minder vaak worden opgenomen. Het 'dreamteam' van pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet en het Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra onder leiding van dirigent Gustavo Dudamel brengt hier verandering in. “A passion-powered reading of the concerto,” stelde de Los Angeles Times. Op het album wordt het concert gecombineerd met korte solo-pianowerken, waaronder het onsterfelijke Adagio uit 'Spartacus' en de Sabeldans en de Masquerade Suite.
