Omschrijving
Joshua Redmans tweede Blue Note-album, Words Fall Short, is een verzameling originele composities die dient als introductie voor zijn nieuwe kwartet met pianist Paul Cornish, bassist Philip Norris en drummer Nazir Ebo, de vaste band voor de wereldtournee achter Redmans labeldebuut Where Are We. Het album bevat ook speciale gastoptredens van saxofonist Melissa Aldana en zangeres Gabrielle Cavassa, evenals trompettist Skylar Tang. Tijdens de tournee met de band besloot Redman met hen ook de studio in te gaan voor het opnemen van de muziek die hij tijdens de pandemie had gecomponeerd. Het album geeft de wisselende stemmingen van weemoed, verdriet en vastberadenheid van die periode weer.
